The UAE is rapidly establishing itself as a leading destination for superyacht refit and repair, with strategic investments in infrastructure, technical services, and talent. Dubai and the wider Emirates are no longer simply winter cruising destinations; they are becoming full-service hubs capable of supporting complex refits, major repairs, and high-end maintenance projects.
The region's strategic advantage
Strategically positioned between the Mediterranean and Asia, the UAE bridges two of the world’s busiest superyacht corridors. Its expanding shipyards, growing skilled workforce, and integrated marine services ecosystem are establishing it as a genuine global hub for refit and repair.
Loal builders leading the charge
At the forefront of this transformation is Gulf Craft, whose new refit and service facility in Ajman represents a major leap forward for regional capability. The 10,000 m² yard has been purpose-built to handle yachts up to 70 metres and features an 8-metre-deep access channel, a 600-tonne travel lift, and a 75-tonne lift for smaller vessels. Four dry berths accommodate yachts up to 60 metres, while an 80-metre alongside berth supports in-water works. Inside, a network of dedicated workshops delivers full-service expertise across carpentry, painting, upholstery, fabrication, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
Further north, Sunreef Yachts is reinforcing the UAE’s technical reputation with its new 65,000 m² shipyard in Ras Al Khaimah — the builder’s largest global site. Developed in partnership with RAK Maritime City, the yard integrates advanced manufacturing systems, robotics, and specialist workshops for composite, metal, and interior work. While primarily dedicated to Sunreef’s hybrid and electric multihull lines, the facility also supports large-scale refit and maintenance operations. Its establishment reflects growing international confidence in the Emirates as a dependable base for yacht construction and service operations.
